FAQ

What is colour analysis and how does it work?

Colour analysis is a professional process used to determine which colours best complement your natural features, including your skin tone, hair, and eyes. By using drapes and structured techniques, a Colour Analyst identifies whether you suit warm or cool tones, and which colour palette enhances your natural complexion. The result is a personalised set of colours that help you look brighter, healthier, and more confident in everything you wear.

No, you do not need any prior experience to become a Colour Analyst. Many of our students come from non-creative backgrounds and simply have a passion for colour and helping others.
That said, having a natural eye for colour, a flair for personal style, or a creative instinct can be incredibly helpful. These are skills you can build and refine during your training, alongside learning the technical methods and gaining the confidence to work professionally with clients.
Yes, absolutely. Colour analysis can become a rewarding and profitable career. Many Colour Analysts charge between £150 and £500 per session, and often more as they gain experience and specialise.
There are also additional income opportunities beyond one-to-one colour assessments. Many Colour Analysts go on to work as colour experts for events, collaborate with brands or boutiques, host workshops, or take part in public speaking and media opportunities. This allows you to grow your income and position yourself as an expert within your field.
How do I start a colour analysis business?
Starting a colour analysis business begins with professional training, so you can confidently and accurately assess clients.
At LCS, we have a dedicated module focused on how to start and grow your colour business, guiding you through everything from your first client to building a scalable brand. Many Colour Analysts begin by working with friends, family, and their local community, growing through word of mouth and social media.
From there, we show you how to expand into working with higher profile clients, brands, boutique stores, and more. The opportunities really are wide ranging.
You can also explore our Talent Directory to see some of the successful Colour Analysts who have trained with LCS and built thriving businesses.
There is no single mandatory qualification required to become a Colour Analyst. However, completing a professional and accredited course is highly recommended to ensure you have the knowledge, credibility, and confidence to work with clients.
At LCS, our certifications and diplomas are globally recognised. You will receive two certificates upon completion, both double accredited, giving you a strong and respected foundation to begin your career.

LCS offers a start date for this course. Please check your start date before enrolling. You will not be able to access tuition / learning prior to the start date.

Yes! – We are firm believers in group personalised and experiential training. Tutors will engage you in live weekly masterclasses, providing a friendly and personal experience where you can share work and experiences and receive feedback and support. Interact with tutors or network with other Colour Analysts in training, discussing topics in your groups. You’ll be able to ask questions, gain feedback and share your progress.

Yes, it does. This is our flagship, advanced level training course, delivered online over nine weeks. Completion of the Colour for Creatives Advanced Diploma leads to accredited Colour Practitioner status with the London College of Style (LCS). This qualification enables you to offer professional, stand-alone colour analysis services and includes in-depth study of colour psychology, personality profiling, secondary influences, and the use of a full professional draping kit. This advanced training is essential for anyone wishing to offer colour analysis services independently or speak at colour-related events with confidence and professional impact.

These two terms are interchangeable — both refer to someone who has successfully completed the Colour for Creatives Advanced Diploma and is qualified to practise as a professional colour expert.

Yes, all professional colour materials are included and will be shipped to you at least one week before the course begins. Your LCS Professional Colour Kit includes:
  • Four luxury colour fans (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter), each with approximately 100 colours
  • A white bib
  • Over 40 professional drapes, including a wide spectrum of blues, greens, reds, yellows, purples, pinks, neutrals, metallics and more
  •  A colour wheel
  • Branded kit bag
Your materials will be dispatched once you are enrolled, and a member of our team will liaise with you regarding shipping arrangements. (Please note: shipping costs are applied at checkout.)

Yes, you will be required to practise your colour analysis skills on six case studies. These can be friends or family members who are willing to be photographed and have their images shared with your tutor for assessment purposes. For more information about how we protect this data, please refer to our Data Protection Policy at the end of this document.

This is a nine-week course. One module will unlock each week, with the final (tenth) week scheduled for completion of your case studies and final assessment. Please note, you cannot fast-track the course — modules are released weekly to support a paced, progressive learning experience. You will retain lifetime access to the learning platform.

We recommend allowing 3–4 hours per week to complete each module, including challenges, assessments and video content.

Your course is structured into ten modules, each including interactive challenges, quizzes, and practical assessments. Each week you’ll complete a module challenge and assessment to track your learning progress. Tutors will provide feedback on both your achievements and areas for development, helping you grow in confidence and skill throughout the programme.
