Manu Requejo

Fashion Stylist
@tataxuu

Hello, everybody! I’m Manu Requejo. I started off career as a publicist, but after two years working in the industry quickly realised it wasn’t for me. I wanted to become a fashion stylist. I was looking at several fashion styling courses in London, but chose LCS because it offered a highly practical approach and was also very professional, plus and I could combine it with work while I studied. I made the right choice!

My course started with an internship at London Fashion Week. The first model I had to dress backstage was Kit Butler. I remember my hands were shaking and that I felt frill of adrenaline, and I just knew I on the right track. I was dizzy and scared of everything in between but I loved it.

Thanks to the LCS internship program, I continued to learn from stylist and costume design Coline Bach and worked with UK pop sensation Little Mix.

I also got to know the world of styling in advertising too and then returned to my home city of Madrid, where I knew very few people in the fashion world, but I started interning there, developing contacts using the lessons learned at LCS and went about seeking opportunities.  Little by little my agenda got bigger.

I had the opportunity to dress a group of young people from a Spanish talent show. That’s where I met Mimi who was the first one to be expelled from the talent show.  I started helping her with her styling and she released her first song, which became the most listened hit in Spain that year.

I became her stylist, styling for her video clips and TV appearances. That gave me even more opportunities. I combined styling with paid jobs in advertising as a stylist’s assistant.

Last week I did my first two TV campaigns as head of wardrobe. It’s a challenging and exciting world where you really need to put yourself out there, but I’m so happy I made this choice. I’ve styled advertising campaigns for Reebok, editorials for print magazines, advertising, photo calls for celebrities and videos.

Some advice from me: Dreams come true, but they have to be worked on!

Currently I am still in contact with some teachers of the college, they ask me how everything is going for me and they keep encouraging me to achieve more goals.

LCS definitely changed my life and I couldn’t be happier.

It changed my life. Thanks to LCS, I got to work with UK pop sensation Little Mix. I now style campaigns for Reebok, editorials, celebrities and music videos.
