She had her first newspaper column while she was at university, before doing further training at the London College of Printing. She’s since worked at titles including BBC Good Food Magazine, eve Magazine, WGSN.com, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and The National, where she was fashion editor. She launched and edited a menswear trade magazine, and has freelanced for titles such as The Guardian, The Telegraph, Condé Nast Traveller and the Daily Mail.
Over the last few years, she has moved into commercial copywriting and content consultancy for advertising agencies, with clients that have included John Lewis, P&G, Mars, Zoopla and Disney. In her spare time, she’s a DJ, artist and is writing a novel.
“Twenty years after starting my career, I still can’t believe my luck that people are willing to pay me to write – it really is the best job in the world, as far as I’m concerned, and I hope our students will feel the same as they step into successful writing careers of their own,” says Gemma.
