How to Have a Successful Blog

Most of you fashionistas had the opportunity to attend London Collections Men. As you may have witnessed, this was a marvellous opportunity for you all to network and make contacts. Having a blog is majorly important in this industry but having the perfect one completely puts you in your own lane.

As you may know, I have been blogging for over five years and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share with you all my tips and tricks on how to have a successful blog.

Fashion blogging isn’t a new concept. These days it’s a road well traveled in heels and dream-worthy wardrobes, of course. While it may sound like a glamorous job, it takes hard work. Fashion bloggers have redefined personal style in a way retailers, designers, and publications haven’t been able to do. Bloggers are a rare breed of creative types, entrepreneurs, dreamers, and fashion-forward thinkers.

Pick a niche

That is of interest to you, that you know a lot about and that inspires you to write. Keep learning, and share with others.

If someone has already done it, go back to the drawing board or your closet.

Social Media Is a Must

Social media plays a crucial part in building your following. Every blogger needs to have a Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter. Those are the most popular social media platforms and the ones that brands will want you to have. Don’t spread yourself thin by jumping on every social space.

Blog Name

I cannot emphasis how important this is. This name is what people will always remember you for! So make it catchy, fun and memorable.

Make It A Priority

You need to make it just as important as showing up to an internship on time or applying for X amount of jobs a day. If a friend asks to go to dinner during your personal blogging time, tell them you can meet an hour later.

Outfit Photos

Now, I know outdoor photography isn’t always an option for everyone, and even when it is, it brings its own set of challenges. In general though, natural light is far preferable to the artificial light you get indoors, so my first recommendation is to try to take your photos outdoors if it’s at all possible: they’ll be lighter, brighter and more natural as a result.

Set Up Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is a powerful tool for monitoring and analyzing your website’s traffic. It lets you know who is visiting your site, what they’re looking for, and how they’re getting to your site. It also keeps count of your page views and unique visitors, which you’ll need for your media kit.

Be Proud Of Yourself

To some it might just be a little side project, but hey, at least you’re doing something.
